WRITOBER #26 - Killing Me Softly

NicholasKay

E uns dedos? Suponho que ninguém daria pela falta. Apenas as mulheres! Ah ah ah. Matas-me.

Bom dia, querido! Pequeno-almoço na cama? Claro! Primeiro falas.

Quente, a colar, a cheirar mal.
E falou? Amadores.

Entre as unhas! Assim não deixa marcas. Segura-o, porra!

Partes do corpo sentiam a dor fantasma do passado.

Talvez isto te abra a boca. Pareciam hienas a cacarejar.

Valeu tanto a pena.
"Suzako... quanto tempo dormi?"
"Aí uma semana."
Uma semana. Quanto tempo tinha perdido?
"Disso lembro-me... Bonna, Gilass? E nós estamos onde?
"Em Xilos, com o seu irmão. A Bonna está a vir para cá. A Gilass está na Heracles."
"Como?!" Mais dor.
"Ela quis ir. Eram as condições..."
"E vocês deixaram?!" Dor, flashes de luz, cama.
Suzako estendeu-lhe um copo com vários comprimidos. Momoa atirou-o para o chão e arrependeu-se do gesto brusco.
"Para onde a Heracles vai?"
"Mnemosine."
"Onde?"

He opened his eyes to a new existence of pain and confusion.  The silence was deafening, his head ached and the chest complained with every movement. There was an extension of gray in front of him... at least where he thought front was. He sunk his hands next to the his torso. Soft. Grasped the linen and pushed himself up. It was like crawling out of quicksand. The shock ran through his body and the brain punched every nerve.
He yelled. No echo. Also alone. The silence morphed into a mechanical hum and the gray exploded in every direction, walls, and ceiling. He resumed his efforts and sat on the bed, back against the wall. Better, he said. Naked, long hair on a wristband and longing a good scrub. He couldn't remember his last shower. In fact, he didn't remember a lot of stuff. He tried, and noticed his bandaged right hand.

You know we can't kill him. What about some fingers? No one would miss those. Well, except the ladies! Har har har, you kill me. Do it, but on the right hand.

He howled with paint.
The shock of the memory didn't alleviate the migraine. The light on the room wasn't bright, he could see where he was and found a table, chair and a pitcher - nothing else.

Look at this piece of shit trying to die here. Piss on him to wake him up. Morning, dear! Breakfast on the bed? Sure. But first you're gonna talk.

Warm, sticky and it stunk.
But did he talk? Told them about the woman? What she did or her specialty? Her whereabouts? No way. Years on the job, that was nothing. Rookies.

Under the nails! That way it won't bruise. Hold him, dammit! Yes, let's see if he talks now. Oh no, no, princess. Where is the woman?

He yelled, flailed and gritted his teeth until he drew blood.
Regions of his body felt the phantom pain of the past. Memories are a bitch: we're "fine", but here it comes a wave rolling, and soaking them in with painful recollections. He shuddered and even that hurt.

Maybe this will loose your tongue. The body was not obeying and he danced frantically, feeling electric serpents twisting his limbs. He was warm, oddly comfortable. Look at this! Baby peed his pants. They cackled like hyenas.

The constant beatings, the care. They left some food or forced it on him. But no, he couldn't die but they had their fun. He was never alone and there was always someone covering the other guard. Every time he fell asleep he was punched in the face. Sleep was a luxury not a right. And with no prior warning he was dragged to the other room to be poked, scraped, shocked, beat, skewered, humiliated and questioned. He gave them nothing. Lies, there was this one time... His head was looking down and he was wheezing due to a broken rib. He told the guy to come closer and when he did he launched his head against his, ignoring all the pain. New blood ran on his face, over his sardonic smile, and he laughed breathless. He only remembered the following beating. Worth it.
He wasn't alone in that room as well. He found the slit on the door and a pair of eyes looking inside. He was scared for a moment and a new pain ran over him. No one talked and in the silence he heard a low and familiar beat.
"You've woke up, Captain."
"How long was I out?"
"Around a week."
One whole week... how many days did he waste?"
"The others?"
"Captain..." Suzako finally entered. He carried a tray with food and meds. He sat on the bed. "Centaur is no more. Neither is the crew."
"I remember that... Bonna, Gilass? And where are we?"
"Xilos, with your brother. Bonna is flying here. Gilass went with the Heracles."
"How?!" Pain.
"She wanted to. Those were the conditions..."
"And you let her?!" Pain. Flashes of light. Bed.
Suzako handed his meds and Momoa threw them away. He immediately regretted that.
"Where is the Heracles going?"
"Mnemosyne."
"Where?"
"Long story."
"We have time, don't we?"
"Until Bonna arrives, yes. Then we go."
"Fine."
Another detail about memories and binders is that we often need other people to write us stories. Suzako then spent some time filling in the blanks. Only until Bonna arrived. Then they would chase the Heracles, Gilass, towards Mnemosyne.
